How I Build Software

My working process from problem to production, not just from keyboard to browser.

  1. Understand the Problem

    Start from the real business or user problem, not the tech - and be clear on what 'correct' looks like.

  2. Design the Architecture

    Sketch the data model, API boundaries, and where security and roles live before writing application code.

  3. Build APIs & Backend

    Implement the backend and REST APIs first, with the data model and business rules as the source of truth.

  4. Build the User Interface

    Layer a responsive, accessible front-end on top of the API, rather than starting from the UI.

  5. Secure the Application

    Add authentication, authorization and input validation as part of the build, not an afterthought.

  6. Test

    Write unit and integration tests around the logic that must not break - especially calculations and access rules.

  7. Deploy

    Ship through CI, with the build, typecheck and tests gating every deploy.

  8. Monitor & Improve

    Watch what breaks in production and feed it back into the next iteration.

I'm a Full-Stack Software Developer focused on building business applications, REST APIs and scalable web systems.

I work across backend development, frontend engineering, databases, authentication, APIs and deployment using technologies such as Python, Laravel, Django, React and Next.js.

My projects include a compliance-native HR & payroll platform, education platforms, an eCommerce API and a training management system.

I'm particularly interested in backend engineering, application security, cloud deployment, and using AI tools to build software faster without cutting corners on architecture or testing.
